SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, May 09, 2016—San Francisco based artisan, Heather Jacks has spent the last four + years crafting her passion for discarded vinyl records into something new and unique; one of a kind, cross-body record handbags. The stylish handbags are created from 100% rescued and repurposed items. They are 100% handmade by Jacks in San Francisco. Online retailer, Amazon.com has chosen Jacks and her record bags to be one of the first artisans sponsored on the new Handmade at Amazon platform.

“I first heard about Handmade at Amazon last year,” says Jacks, “from my boyfriend, who had read about it. I thought it was brilliant and wanted to be a part of it. I contacted Amazon, but, they were not ready yet. In October, Amazon contacted me to see if I wanted to participate in the beta testing for Handmade at Amazon. My answer? Absolutely!”

“Handmade at Amazon was designed to provide customers and artisans a tailored store specifically for handcrafted items. All products available on Handmade at Amazon are factory-free and must be made by hand,” explains Amazon curator for Handmade.

Jacks’ loves collecting old vinyl records, especially those that are no longer playable. Her own collection shelves around a 1000 of the Frisbee shaped discs. Her first record bag was created from a Culture Club album, found in a dollar bin on Haight Street. “Those first bags were rough, “ says Jacks, “I was teaching myself to sew from YouTube videos, and trying to create a pattern that matched what I envisioned in my minds’ eye; but, I continued to tweak the pattern over and over, and eventually, the bags got really good!”
