10 Things To Know About Norwegian Indie Band, Shadow Hunters

With so many bands and musicians on the soundscape today, there is something for everyone. As a writer, how do you decide who to devote your ink and time to? If you’re the Rolling Stone or Pitchfork, it’s pretty easy to know that answer; but, if you’re an indie writer, such as me or my friend Bob Leggett at Indie Voice, the answer is not so clear cut.
When I started The Noise Beneath the Apple®, I had just left the traditional music industry, and the music industry…well, it is an industry first. As a writer in that realm, you are encouraged to be creative, within parameters. Editors avoid giving assignments that contain any semblance, of ‘I don’t know, let’s try’ in it; you are encouraged to “stay true to your genre” and ultimately, creativity becomes exactly its opposite.
As the editor/publisher of The Noise Beneath the Apple® hundreds of new releases come to me in various formats, CD's, vinyl, and the dreaded digital download.
I try to listen to what comes across my cyber-desk, I really do, but, alas; it’s not possible. That being said, I gravitate towards artists who are not the most popular, the most played or the most covered. They use bravery, insight, creativity, and boldness to challenge the status-quo. They take their music, as I take my writing; personally; as personal acts of courage that intend to create change in another.
With that being said, I welcome the Norwegian duo, Shadow Hunters, to TNBTA®. With Will S. on vocals and guitars and Ingar LH. on drums, Shadow Hunters current single “Fire Will Be Free" offers an opportunity to explore the boundaries of rock while drawing inspiration from electronic music in a way that feels fresh and innovative. Their love of movies, modern rock, metal and Sci-fi film scores, has a heavy influence in their sound, giving it a marked sense of variety and experimentation. The soaring dream rock-style movement is punctuated by pensive vocals that take the lead in what has the sense of aching yearning. Give a listen to the tune here and find out a few things about what makes these gents tick, in the following Q&A.
